Harvest Impact Supports Great Community Initiatives in Guelph & Wellington County

Harvest Impact has been fortunate to gain sup- port from governments, corporations and the private sector. Wherever possible we leverage our good fortune and our expertise to help sister organizations in Guelph and Wellington County to achieve their goals.

  • Harvest Impact Fund I was selected by the Waterloo Region Community Foundation (WRCF) as one of four funds to receive investment through their inaugural Impact Fund Forum — a rigorous process that started with 32 Canadian impact funds, narrowed to a shortlist of 12, and ended with four.

Being there was something special. Watching other mission-aligned funds pitch, hearing how they talk about their work, and connecting with people who are asking the same questions and chasing the same kinds of change — that kind of energy is rare. It was a reminder of how much we can learn from each other when like-minded people are in the same room.

WRCF is Harvest Impact’s first official investor in Harvest Impact Fund I, and we couldn’t be more excited. As we continue building toward our $10M fund, this is exactly the validation and momentum we needed to keep going — getting us closer to the food, farm, and environment entrepreneurs we exist to serve. The ones growing our food, closing the loop on waste, and building a more circular economy, often without access to the capital they need to do it.

To read the full story behind WRCF’s Impact Fund Forum and how they designed the process, we encourage you to read the piece written by WRCF President & CEO Eric Avner here.

  • Guelph-Wellington Community Agriculture Challenge

In 2021, the Guelph-Wellington Community Agriculture Challenge, organized by Harvest Impact Loan Fund, issued a call for projects, offering up to $2,000 each to 10 projects to implement ideas and projects that support circular economic recovery, accelerate food production, and get more food to the table with less environmental impact.

  • The SEED

The SEED is a project of the Guelph Community Health Centre that works towards building a community with no barriers to healthy food.

Harvest Impact Loan Fund has supported The SEED by raising funds and in-kind services as a circular food economy demonstration project, showing the power of community working together.
